Commercial skip hire and domestic skip hire across the South East
Here at Premier Skip Hire, we are always happy to answer any questions relating to the skip hire services we provide across the South East. In order to make things easier for our prospective customers, we have put together the following list of the most common queries received at our Sutton office, and our answers to them.
What size skip do I need?
It really depends on how much waste you’re looking to dispose of. Here at Premier Skip Hire we have a variety of skip sizes, ranging from 2 cubic yards through to 12 cubic yards, which should be sufficient to meet any of your needs. We have a size guide on our site that will help you to estimate the size of skip that’s best for you. We recommend that you don’t underestimate the amount that you’re throwing away, as all skips must be level-loaded in order to be transported safely. Also, unless previously agreed, any skips that are 10 cubic yards in size or over must not contain any heavy materials.
How long does it take to get a skip?
Depending on the size of skip that you want and where you need it located, we can sometimes provide you with one on the same day. However, if you require a permit for placing the skip on a public highway, we will require some advance notice, since it can take time to arrange for one. Exactly how long this process takes depends very much on the local council that issues the permits. That said, we also offer a wait-and-load service, which eliminates the requirement for a skip permit. For more information about this service, please give us a call.
When and how do I pay?
If ordering a skip by phone, you can provide us with your payment details during the call, or you can make payment on delivery of your skip. If you are booking a skip through our online order form, you will need to make a payment via PayPal to complete your order. If you do not have a PayPal account, their payment portal will allow you to use any major credit or debit card to complete the transaction.
Where can the skips be placed?
We will try to place your skip in the most practical and convenient location. Depending on the size, this could be your driveway, or the road. When placing a skip on the road, you will likely require a licence from the local council. If you have no private land on which to place the skip, let us know at the time of booking. We may be able to arrange a permit for you or, alternatively, offer our wait-and-load service.
What can and can’t be put in the skip?
There are a number of Environment Agency regulations that prevent certain waste items from being disposed of in one of our skips because of the environmental problem that they pose. These include such things as refrigerators, televisions, gas bottles, rubber tyres, and hazardous. If you have these sorts of items and which to get rid of them, we can provide a removal service for you that complies with these regulations. However, simply loading these items into the skip without prior permission will result in you being charged for them, and the items being returned to you.
Will my drive be damaged by the skip?
Some heavy skips require stabilising equipment during the collection phase, which can damage soft tarmac and block-paved drives. We will take every care to prevent any damage and it will help if you inform us what kind of material you’re intending to load the skip with. You can also reduce the risk of damage by ensuring that the skip is not overloaded.
We hope that all of your questions have been answered in the above list. If you have any other queries regarding our skip hire solutions, feel free to give us a call on 0208 873 1433 or
